## One line

Chipline is an offline five-in-a-row board game for iPhone and iPad, where everybody holds their cards on their own phone and nobody needs the internet.

## Short description about 50 words

Chipline is a board game for iPhone and iPad. Play a card, place a chip, and get five in a row before the other team does. Each player holds their cards on their own phone, an iPad can lie in the middle as the board, and the devices connect directly, with no internet.

## Long description about 150 words

Chipline is a five-in-a-row board game for iPhone and iPad, made for people in the same room. On your turn you play a card from your hand and put one of your team’s chips on a matching space of a ten-by-ten board of playing cards. Jacks are wild: two-eyed jacks go on any open space, and one-eyed jacks take an opponent’s chip away. Five in a line makes a run, and the first team to three runs wins, or to two when three teams play.

Everybody sees the board on their own phone and keeps their hand there. An iPad laid flat in the middle can be a big shared board. Somebody without an iPhone can share a phone with a player who is already seated, pass and play runs the game on one device, and bots fill any empty chair.

The devices connect directly, with no internet, account or server. Joining is free. Whoever starts the game pays once, after a free seven-day trial.

## Getting the details right

- **It runs without the internet,** not just without an account. Phones at the table find each other over their own Wi-Fi radios, with no network or router, which is why it works on a plane or at a campsite.
- **Only the person who starts a game pays.** Everyone who joins plays free, for good. There is no subscription and nothing to renew.
- **An iPad is optional.** It makes a good board for the middle of the table, but a phone can run the game while its owner plays, and pass and play needs only one device.
- **Android players can still join in** by sharing an iPhone with somebody already seated. Chipline itself is iPhone and iPad only.
